Mason Mount Joins Manchester united from Chelsea for a fee of £60M.

Chelsea and Manchester United agree fee for Mason Mount. Deal for Mount worth up to £60M (£55M + £5M adds.) Mason Mount will undergo medicals with Man United after the weekend.

Contract will be valid until June 2028, five-year deal agreed weeks ago. Mason Mount will earn £250,000 a week potentially with bonuses to £300,000 per week at Man United. Chelsea have raised £125m from the sales of Mason Mount and Kai Havertz. Manchester United NEVER left the race for Mason Mount despite reports… and they never entered the race for Caicedo.

Erik ten Hag had also tried to sign Mason Mount on loan for Ajax in 2018 before he joined Derby County instead. Chelsea will now step up their efforts to sign midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton. — Brighton value him at £100m but Chelsea hope to set up a deal worth around £80m.

Crucial business to get done before pre-season starts next week. United had contacted Moises Caicedo’s team as an alternative to Mount, a conclusion in the Mount deal would end that interest. Mount Joins Manchester United from Chelsea for a fee of £60M. Mount signs 5 + 1 contact until 2028.

Mason Mount Played 195 games for Chelsea and scored 33 goals assisting 37 goals. He won with Chelsea 1 Champions League, 1 Super Cup and 1 Club World Cup. He also won 2 players of the season for Chelsea and 1 Academy player of the season.

Todd Bohley, Behdad Eghbali and Jose E. Feliciano on Mason Mount's departure:

"Mason is a consummate professional and a popular figure at the club. We want to thank him for all his efforts on and off the pitch throughout his time at Chelsea."

Mason Mount would need to win multiple trophies with mufc over the coming seasons, playing the majority of the games, for the £5m in add-ons to be activated.

Ten Hag spoke in detail with Mason Mount about how he could help develop him as a player. He talked about the different positions which he could play and was also impressed by the number of games he’d played for Chelsea before a dip last season.

One mufc source on Mason Mount: "Great lad, great attitude and ability He was desperate to join us and he’s desperate to win."

Ten Hag pushed for Mason Mount and saw him as a player younger than most of his midfielders who would give him multiple tactical options since Mount can play in seven different roles. Ten Hag liked his energy and his work ethic.

Jurgen Klopp was a long-time admirer of Mason Mount and made it clear and that he would be interested in signing him. Mikel Arteta wasn’t only an admirer, he thought Mount would sign for Arsenal. Ten Hag was a major factor in him choosing.

Chelsea saw Reece James signing a new deal as a level of commitment they expected of Mason Mount too. Chelsea was prepared to offer Mount a similar salary, they considered the duo to be at the same level. one offer of around £200,000-a-week was made in February 2023 to Mason Mount to extend by a further year to relieve some of the pressure with a view to revisiting discussions over a longer agreement later in the year.

Chelsea sources state the one-year contract also came with a release clause worth £70M, which would have allowed Mason Mount to leave this summer if he so wished. Chelsea have maintained that Mason Mount’s displays on the pitch did not justify him being paid higher wages than, for example, Reece James.

Maon Mount is of the opinion Manchester United are in a better position to challenge for major honors now than Chelsea. Mason Mount’s camp claim the first official offer from Chelsea came in August and represented a £30,000 per week increase on his base salary.  Sources at Chelsea who deny this and insist 4 or 5 offers were made between then and November, all of a similar length and financial package to that signed by James.

Following talks prior to the World Cup, there was confidence something would soon be formalized to extend Mason Mount’s deal. Todd Bohley contemplated travelling out to Qatar to get it signed, but Mount made it clear he wanted to focus on the tournament.

The idea was quickly shelved due to it being doubtful that England manager Gareth Southgate would have wanted club matters encroaching on his team’s preparations.
