Mauricio Pochettino first Chelsea’s press conference was brilliant and it showed why he is the perfect manager.

Mauricio Pochettino's first Chelsea press conference was brilliant as he was confident and clear, and this is what he said.

Mauricio Pochettino to the media: “I hope you’re nice to me, it’s not compulsory this conference, I can stand up and walk away.”

"I am so proud to be here. It's a great opportunity for me to be back in the Premier League, the best in the world. Chelsea convinced me to be here. A great team. I'm proud of my past but I need to look forward. I hope to build a relationship with everyone."

"What I need to do is coach, not only the players but the staff, to guide them to achieve what we and the fans expect. The past is the past. We only need to think to be positive and really believe."

Every single season, not only the players, the staff and people, in football you have to move on quick. If not, you are dead. What I found from day one, the squad is not all the squad yet. But the players were very open, and the attitude was opening. What I need to do is coach, not only the players but the staff, to guide them to achieve what we and the fans expect. The past is the past. We only need to think to be positive and really believe."

He also said, “We have quality, and we will add more quality."

Mauricio Pochettino on Mason Mount:

"We cannot talk. When I was talking about the future, it's to talk about the players who are here and who we can add. He's a Man Utd player now. He loved the club. But I don't know what happened in the past."

"My target is to win. If you are in a club like Chelsea, you can't do a nice show and play well. Of course, good show and play well. But, of course, to win. If you don't win in a club like Chelsea, you will struggle."

“We want to be competitive and to be the best. We have to work hard."

“It's so important to create that togetherness. In Premier League it's really tough. But together we can be close to win again."

"When we met for the first time and agreed to start, Laurence, Paul and the owners present the plans for the squad. They ask me to start July 1. They showed me the strategy plan, I agree. The club start to work. It's doing a fantastic job. I am happy."

“From now, I will be more involved. I will work with them. To judge and to take decisions. With Paul and Laurence, closely working, to take decisions for the best of the club."

Mauricio Pochettino on Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke:

"We spoke yesterday with Levi and Noni. I know Noni from Tottenham in the U18s. I wish all the best for tomorrow. We are waiting for them to be with the team. The day we fly to America, they will join us."

Mauricio Pochettino on Pep Guardiola being unbeatable after treble:

"I want to congratulate Pep for all that they achieved, it's unbelievable. It's amazing to see how a club works for many years with the stability and giving the tools to the coach to do the job that's he doing."

“We need to believe we can create good things. It's going to be tough but we have to believe that we can compete with a team like Man City."

"I want to provide and give the people, who trust in me, everything that I can do. I know that I need to build a relationship with the fans. I am fully committed with Chelsea."

"It's a pleasure. I am proud of him [Enzo Fernandez] and our national team. I am so excited. I hope we can win many trophies together here."

“We can win. If we really believe and we are together, we can compete and try to beat these amazing teams."

“I still not have time to think on the most difficult challenge. It's clear to have a very balanced squad. The club, in the plan, reduce the number of the players. That is the most important thing... then find the players to add."

"In football, no patience. It's difficult to wait. In Chelsea, it's not about time, you have to deliver from day one. That's how we are working on the training ground. Not wasting time now. Football is about today, not talk too much about long term."

"He first with Paul and Laurence... I said I need to know if I need to convince you or you need to convince me. They were very honest with me. They showed the plan. All the good and not so good things that need to happen before July 1, then after."

“I spoke with the owners in a really good way. They're clever people. I feel good. I'm not a coach who needs to ask for power. The most important I need to show them to trust in me and the players, and the fans can trust my decisions and the way we operate."

"With all the staff and people, we need to create our own idea, the way to work, to make decisions. Every single club is different."

"The next captain? First of all, we need to close the squad. I need to feel the players, the commitment, the character and personality. Then we have many players with experience. Then we will decide."

"I don't think too much. For me, it was a great opportunity at a really great club, and to come back to the Premier League."

 Mauricio Pochettino on Romelu Lukaku:

"He needs to come back July 12/13 to be part of the squad to start pre-season. With all the players that arrive, first thing that they're doing is to come to my office and say hello. That's what I expect if he's still a Chelsea player."

"I love the risk. I love to be on the top with the expectations to be here, and I think for me it’s a challenge. It’s a big challenge that I want to feel, I want to feel again, the adrenaline, and to be there fighting for big things. This football club, because of the history, is about winning big trophies. I want to prove myself: that I can deal with that."

Pochettino on… If the owners will be allowed into the changing room after games:

“First of all, we need to understand they own the football club, and we need to respect that. Another thing is to talk about how we need to behave, because that is an important thing. Of course, for me, (they are) more than welcome if the owner(s) come to the dressing room, to the training ground; but they always need to communicate (with) myself, I need to know and to prepare, you know, the people… because here (the sanctity of the changing room), it’s really special, this type of thing, in England.”

The head coach or the manager is who decides the thing, how it is going to work in the dressing room, on the pitch, on the training ground. Also, with the sporting director, all together, to create the line all together.
