Full Mauricio Pochettino press conference against Brighton.

Mauricio Pochettino's Full Pre-Brighton and Hove Albion Press Conference:

Mauricio Pochettino: “I think it is one of our objectives this season. We need to think about the opportunity to win a trophy. Of course, the feelings after Sunday are not the best but it is about moving on to give the players confidence and trust.”

Mauricio Pochettino: “We are playing well; it's only we are not clinical in front of the goal. That is what we need to fix and try to give more confidence to our offensive players. The problem is the most important thing is to score goals.”

Mauricio Pochettino: “No [Armando Broja will not start], he needs time. 20, 30, 35 minutes he could maybe help. He is not ready.”

Mauricio Pochettino on Bruno Slator’s departure: “A decision between the club and Bruno. He didn't belong to my coaching staff and it's the best decision for him and the club.”

Mauricio Pochettino: “I like when the owners come. In all my career. I think it's good. The way in which they approach the players is most important.”

Mauricio Pochettino: “Confidence in one aspect is to score goals. It's not only about your positional game, your movement, if you play with one or two strikers, it's most important to be natural. The team show confidence and belief in the way we play…”

Mauricio Pochettino on Ben Chilwell being benched: “I am so happy with Levi and the way he is playing. He is providing the team with a very good balance. Chilly has the possibility to play tomorrow. We were using him maybe not in his best position…”

Mauricio Pochettino on Thiago Silva: “Thiago is already doing well. The way we want to play and the moment we recover some offensive players, he is very good. He is strong, you need a strong defensive line…”

Mauricio Pochettino: "I think the belief [is what I like most about the Chelsea team]. In a very short time that we are together. Realistically, we only started after the transfer window closed. In a few weeks, the team get what we wanted, and we are showing the ideas and the way we dominate the game. Every single football person sees Chelsea deserve more but we need goals, we cannot forget that. In a few weeks, the team get what we wanted, and we are showing the ideas and the way we dominate the game. Every single football person sees Chelsea deserve more but we need goals, we cannot forget that."

Mauricio Pochettino: "It's not worse than I thought [Chelsea job]. We always knew new project is always difficult. This period... it looks like all is against us because the performance[s] deserves more points. We have the capacity to turn this..."

Mauricio Pochettino on Chelsea owners coming into the dressing room. "I like it when the owners come in... I think it's good. The way in which they approach the players is most important. If they [do it in] the correct way, they are very welcome.”

"They come in with Paul and Laurence. Behdad and sometimes Todd also, and we talk about the game. I don't see it in a bad way... If they came for a speech, that is different. But the way they come; they are very welcome. They own the club; I think they can do what they want."

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he has been trying to build Mykhailo Mudryk’s confidence with the help of regular crossbar challenges after Chelsea training — and this week saw the first time the Ukraine international avoided losing to his head coach.

The problem is we can't buy confidence at the supermarket!” Pochettino said. “It's about time. You know how our brains work - it's about little by little, creating situations where we can provide the trust and the confidence and the belief.

“One example with Mudryk, I like to play sometimes to (hit) the crossbar from outside the box. He said to me, 'I don't want to play anymore with you because you always win!' I said 'Yes, because I have the belief, and the balance between belief and quality I know very well because I'm 50 years old. You're still young and you need to know yourself'.

"Today (Tuesday) was the first day we draw, because I always won. Now you start to believe in yourself, believe in your quality. If not, it's difficult to balance belief and quality.

“That is one aspect you work on, the psychology of the player, and that can make the difference to provide the players with confidence to touch the ball and score. It's a small example.”

Mauricio Pochettino say Chelsea is less hard than Southampton and Tottenham job as they only missing goals.

Mauricio Pochettino It’s less hard at Chelsea than when we were in Southampton and Tottenham, trust me. Believe me. The only thing we are missing is scoring goals, because the team is playing....

“If you see our first few months in Southampton and Tottenham, I think Chelsea are playing much better. We are doing much better here, but we are missing the most important in football - to score.”

Pochettino: “I believe. I really believe. It’s about having patience and trying to recover all the injured players. If you see the squad, it has very good balance. Everyone can say that the plan is not right, but I really believe in the project.”

“Everyone can say that the plan is not right, but I really believe in the project. We only need time to change that perception because we are going to change that perception.”

Pochettino on whether Jackson will be fined by the club for 5 yellows: “It’s not money. It’s private. I don’t like to talk about money with players.”
